Claire Gillman

Location: England, Greater Manchester, Bolton

Claire is the editor of Kindred Spirit magazine; she contributes to many leading women’s magazines and has written on health and parenting for the Guardian, The Times and other national newspapers. She has helped many aspiring writers to realise their dream of becoming a published author and is a mentor with Jericho Writers (formerly Writers Workshop). In total, she has written 30 books including three titles for aspiring writers in the Hodder Teach Yourself series:  How to Write Fantastic Non-Fiction,  How to Make Money from Freelance Writing and How Not to Get Published, in which Claire examines the common pitfalls which authors make in their submissions and offers solutions based on her own experiences as a published author and a literary consultant

Writer:

Claire has been writing professionally for over 30 years and loves what she does. Writing can be fun and fulfilling, yet frustrating and challenging in equal measure, but it is always interesting. Claire has interviewed some amazing people and has written about subjects that she has found fascinating and that she hopes inspires a similar response in her readers.

Writing and coaching for a living has allowed her to lead the life she always wanted. She lives on the edge of the West Pennine moors with my family and dog and combines the huge pleasure of writing with an outdoor lifestyle.

Books:

Claire has written 30 books in total, with her first book, Para: Inside the Parachute Regiment being published back in 1987. Since then she has covered topics ranging from parenting and fitness to natural health and how to write and get published. Claire has aslo penned a number of books for adolescents plus a series of survival guides under the pen-name of Rory Storm.

Claire has written for many of the women’s consumer and lifestyle magazines as well as specialist magazines such as Health and Fitness magazine. Currently, she is the editor of Kindred Spirit magazine.

She is currently the editor of a bi-monthly magazine, Kindred Spirit magazine, a guide to well-being, spiritual and compassionate living. In the past, She has edited consumer magazines specialising in health, parenting and travel – all of which are subjects close to her heart. 

Editor/Writing Mentor:

Claire is an editor for Jericho Writers, (an online club for writers who are serious about their craft, offering editorial advice and courses)., She specialises in memoirs and non-fiction generally. It is hugely rewarding to be able to help new writers to get their ideas and writing into shape for possible publication. For that reason, she also loves to run writing groups and mentoring; it is inspiring, fun and fulfilling at the same time.
